On May 12, 2022 Google introduced its smartphone Google Pixel 6A at Google I/O '22 and with a price range of $449. This is the new budget friendly phone that Google has introduced for its users. In this smartphone, Google has added the same custom Tensor chip same as their flagship models. So let's check some of the features that Google has introduced in Pixel 6A and find out whether it provides better competition or not.

1. Body

Pixel 6A includes the same design as the Pixel 6 with the two tone look. Google Pixel 6A comes with 8.9mm thickness along with 178gms of weight. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection at the front and plastic back along with aluminum frame. Pixel 6A includes IP67 water/dust resistant along with nano SIM and e-SIM support. It comes with Chalk, Charcoal and Sage color combinations.

2. Display

Google Pixel 6A includes 6.1 inch, 1080 x 2400 pixels Flat display along with 83% screen to body ratio and a top center hole punch. The display also includes OLED as well as HDR. The display comes with 60Hz along with in-display fingerprint reader.

3. Chipset with OS

Google Pixel 6A includes Google Tensor chipset same as Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro which provides 5 times more performance than Pixel 5A. It includes Octa core (2x2.80 Ghz Cortex-X1 and 2x2.25 Ghz Cortex A-76 and 4x1.80 Ghz Cortex A55) processor. It also includes Mali-G78 MP20 GPU along with Android 12 OS which can be upgraded to Android 13. Pixel 6A includes Material You UI which is same as Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

4. Camera

The main camera of Google Pixel 6A is 12.2MP camera for the standard one and 12MP for the ultra wide one with Sony IMX363 Sensor which is same as Pixel 5, 4, 3 and 2. Other features includes dual-LED flash, Pixel Shift, Auto HDR, panorama, dual pixel PDAF and OIS. For recording videos, it includes 4K recording with 30/60fps and 1080p recording with 30/60/120/240fps. The front camera is a single 8MP with features like Auto-HDR, panorama. You can also record video of 1080p quality with 30fps on front camera.

5. Connectivity

Google Pixel 6A comes with 5G connectivity same as Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro which makes the internet experience more faster. You will get Bluetooth 5.2 with Wi-Fi 802.11. The GPS is available in the device with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS. You will get NFC connectivity in the device as well.

6. Battery and Memory

In Google Pixel 6A, you will get 4410 mAh non removable battery with fast charging of 18W and USB Power Delivery 3.0. The battery shows good performance in spite of having a higher battery usage Tensor chip.

You will get 128GB internal memory along with 6GB of RAM with UFS 3.1. There is no card slot available for adding more space.

7. Sound

In Pixel 6A you will get dual stereo speakers which are dynamic and there is little to no distortions at higher volumes which provides better sound experience. The 3.5mm headphone jack is not available in the device.

8. Security and Safety

Google Pixel 6A includes Titan M2 security chip for better safety and security along with under-display fingerprint scanner. You will also get 5 years of security updates for this device.

9. Other features

  • Sensors include accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass and barometer.
  • It includes USB type C 3.1 at the bottom.
  • Live Translate is added to Google Pixel 6A with the help of Tensor chipset.






These are some of the features announced by the Google at the Google I/O '22 event. Google has tried their best to make this a budget friendly smartphone along with adding some premium features but it is somehow considered as the high priced phone as compared with other budget smartphones in the market. If you have a good budget, then I totally recommend that you can go with this one as you will get flagship look and chipset in this.
