On June 25, 2021, Microsoft launched its new Microsoft Windows 11 OS at The 2021 Microsoft Windows event with the addition of various new updates and features in its OS. At the event, Panos Panay showed us what inspired them to build this new Windows OS and even considered this OS as a place where users can create, play, learn, produce and connect with the society. So, let's check some of the major features and updates that Microsoft has introduced in Windows 11 to find out whether it is the best Windows OS or not?

1. Start Menu

Microsoft has moved the Start at the center so that it is easy to access and introduced a new Start Menu design. The new Start Menu includes the search option to find the content on your pc, OneDrive and the internet. Also there is pinned and recommended section added to the Start Menu. The recommended section helps you to see the content you are viewing earlier.

2. Snap Layout and Snap Groups

Now multitasking in Windows becomes more easier with the introduction of Snap Layout feature in Microsoft Windows 11 OS. Now you can choose the layout of your multitasking window in just simple steps.

Microsoft also made changes in its snap groups feature so that it is easy to access. In this feature, all the apps you were using through snap layout are available in the form of group on the taskbar. You just have to click on them and get back to where you were before which makes our working experience more easy.

3. Docking

We all use docking feature in order to connect our laptops with big screens monitors for mostly work purposes. In Windows when we plug out the monitor from the laptop, then the Windows on the monitor gets minimized on the laptop and with new Windows 11 when you reconnect your monitor with the laptop, the minimized window gets restored on the monitor just as before.

4. Desktop

In Windows 11, you can personalize your desktops such as setting different wallpapers so that you can use each desktop as per its purpose. You can make different desktops for work, for home, for gaming and so on.

5. Teams

Now in Windows 11, you can see Teams already installed and you can easily access it through taskbar. The Teams icon is present at the center of the taskbar and with just a single click you can connect with anyone through chat, call, or video call.

6. Windows Widgets

Windows Widgets is a new feature introduced in Windows 11 which is powered by AI and provides you latest updates and information such as weather, To Do list, stock market, top news stories and many more.

7. Adaptability and User Interactions

Microsoft has introduced various updates related to adaptability and user interactions. Whether you are using your windows tablet or laptop, the interface is same which some minor differences such as adding gestures so that it becomes easy to adapt by its users. They also introduced haptics while using a pen and new touch keyboard with different themes, emojis and gifs.

Microsoft has also improved its voice typing feature so that it can recognize your voice better and auto punctuate. Now you can use the voice commands more easily.

8. Gaming

Gaming is an important part of Windows as most of the users are connected to Windows through gaming and Microsoft has assured us that with Windows 11, you will get the best PC gaming experience yet. Some of the best updates introduced in gaming are listed below:

  • Auto HDR - Auto HDR automatically chooses the game lighting and color to high dynamic range so that you will get more life like colors in games.
  • Direct Storage - With the introduction of direct storage now you will experience more gaming load speed and improves CPU performance.
  • Xbox Game Pass - Xbox game pass is the gaming membership which you can access through Xbox app. By purchasing Xbox game pass, you can get access to all the Xbox library games. Also with Xbox Cloud gaming, you can play high fidelity games on all the PC's.

9. Microsoft Store

Microsoft has added some small updates such as look and feel, search improvements, security improvements etc. Windows is also working on introducing Android apps to its Windows OS.

With this update, the look and feel of the Windows OS has totally changed and with gaming advancements, the Microsoft is targeting their younger users to get more connected with Windows.
